Stella del Mare is as much about art and a serene environment as it is about real estate. Experienced investors in oceanfront properties, developers David & Gail McRorie initially conceived of Stella del Mare as a private family compound designed in the true authentic Tuscan tradition they had both grown to love while traveling abroad. As they began to assemble the team, however, the project began to evolve in response to the unique opportunity that lay before them. Could one create a waterfront Italian village along the shores of a South Carolina sea island?

In 2002, with the help of some of the most gifted architects, planners and artisans of our time, the McRories elected to design five Tuscan estates on the property in order to further enhance its Riviera ambiance and architectural authenticity. The opportunity was seized, and the Star of the Sea was born.

Visionaries by any definition, the McRories are no strangers to success—in marriage, business or real estate development. Each has 25 to 30 years of experience in executive management, Fortune 500 consulting and business development.
